In the long run, it pays to purchase the right packing materials. Sturdy boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts should be purchased in advance of your move date, in order to help with your organization, and to reduce the time spent packing on move day. Supplement with newsprint paper, moving blankets. Even clothing, blankets, cushions and pillows can serve as a buffer between breakable objects.
Bubble pack is an ideal packaging material for lightweight items, and it is advantageous because it can be shaped to wrap around any size product. Bubble wrap is a very good packing material, but because of its cost, it should be used only on your more valuable items.
Mover’s pad is an excellent packing material. Movers use these 48x40, three to five ply paper pad to pack a variety of items. It is an excellent covering for furniture, appliances, beds, lamps, etc. It does not provide a great deal of padding, but works to minimize rubbing and marring.
Dolphin pad is a roll of grey foam that is excellent on furniture, paintings, antiques and mirrors. It is soft, yet very durable, and have a cushioning layer. Similar to Dolphin pad is kraft bubble. This material also comes on a roll, and is composed of heavy kraft paper on one side, and bubble wrap on the other. It has superior cushioning effect, while remaining extremely strong. Both of these wrapping products are intended for furniture items, and they are somewhat water resistant, so work well for long term storage items.
