Moving cargo into the Virgin Islands is somewhat different from a freight move within the USA. Similarly, we are also different than moving cargo into Puerto Rico. Reason being, although the Virgin Islands is a US Territory, we are a different Customs jurisdiction, and thereby have a different duty structure. Additionally, we have an excise tax structure that is legislated by our local Senate. The tax laws are not very complex, but recently they have been changing, with new tax laws being contemplated even now.
It would be ideal to post a tax and duty structure on this page, where forwarders could log in and get all the detail necessary for a proper import. Unfortunately, there are many situations where certain taxes apply, and where others do not. Rather that create a flow chart here, we ask that you contact us by email (info@managedfright.com) to learn about what taxes and duties may apply to your shipment.
